In the late 80’s Xerox was doing much training for quality and teamwork. Gerry was the district manager of upstate NY and the company was pairing districts to do teamwork training. Somehow (Gerry intervention) we were teamed up with the Puerto Rico group. They were scheduled to come to Syracuse in February. How he pulled it off, only God and him know but suddenly his entire management group (about 15 of us) were going to Puerto Rico for the training, rather than them coming to snowy NY. We went to PR and he got the instructor to lengthen the training days so we could have off a day,

He set up a private sail boat trip from Ponce on the south side of PR to an island 15 miles off shore We had an absolute great time. whale watching and all.

Moral of story, Gerry always was looking for unique ways to reward the employees for the job they were doing and he did it time and time again. From this trip to the 1980 Winter Olympics in Lake Placid, Presidents Club trips, meetings in the Thousand Islands, Saratoga Race track in August, Lake George, Atlantic City, Vermont and on and on

Gerry, I hope this brings back thoughts of that trip and all the others and the great times we had on a “business trips” and also a big thank you for all you did for us through the years.

Praying for you and thinking of you.
