Honoring the Past, Inspiring the Future: The Story Behind Eastern Pennsylvania Youth Soccer’s New Commemorative Patch
The new Eastern Pennsylvania Youth Soccer commemorative patch is more than a design — it’s a vibrant tapestry of heritage, pride, and forward momentum. Every element was carefully chosen to tell the story of where this organization comes from and where it’s headed.

At its heart is the Liberty Bell, a timeless symbol of Philadelphia and the spirit of independence that echoes throughout the region. Its shape recalls the iconic image celebrated during the Bicentennial and now renewed for America’s Semiquincentennial. The red, white, and blue striping draws directly from these historic celebrations, reflecting national pride and a commitment to honoring milestones together.
Cut through the bell is a striking lightning bolt crack, inspired by Ben Franklin’s legendary “kite and key” experiment in Philadelphia — a nod to innovation and discovery that still resonates today. This bolt also infuses the patch with energy, mirroring the passion and drive young players bring to the field.
At the base of the bell sits a soccer ball, seamlessly tied to the sport and drawn from Eastern Pennsylvania Youth Soccer’s existing crest. It grounds the patch in the game that unites so many families and communities, underscoring how history shapes the present while the beautiful game brings people together.
Framing the entire mark is a keystone outline, paying tribute to Pennsylvania’s nickname — the Keystone State — and honoring the legacy of the association’s original badge.
Together, these elements create a bold, fresh identity that links the rich traditions of the state and city with the future of youth players. It’s a patch that celebrates where Eastern Pennsylvania Youth Soccer has been, who it is today, and where it’s going — always striving, always united, always honoring the past while building the next chapters of its story on the pitch.
The commemorative patch was designed by A.E. Engine and art director Joe Rabuck.
