My Dad

This a man when I was little who would pay me a quarter not to cry and give the babysitter a hard time.
The bribe worked every weekend.
This is a man who would take me to the mall just to talk to the cable salesman only to find out our house misses the cable line. He would even offer to buy every channel – never worked but we tried every weekend.
This is a man who taught me to drive in the driveway when I was 14 so by the time I got my permit I was driving on the highway (Route 81) while my Dad napped.
This is a man who drove me to college and on the 4 hour drive talked about (BOYS) and what to expect at college – drive that seemed like days.
This is a man who never judged my 80’s, Grunge, Nicole Style fashion. I was always beautiful.
This a man when I was pregnant with my first child we went to a family dinner in NYC at our neighborhood Italian restaurant, only for the maître d’ to hell from the back of the restaurant “Jerry – 2 beers and a cigarette” and sat us instantly.
This is a man when I took my parents to see the summer cottage my Dad could not stop talking about how fantastic it was. Even though it was a work in progress he thought it was perfect.
This is a husband, father, grandfather, friend who would make you feel like you were unique and awesome even if you were not feeling that way.
My Dad taught me many things but most of all – he taught me to be myself along with a funny story is always good!
The last 2 weeks have been the hardest of my life, but the last couple of days were filled with wonderful stories. Thank you, Dad for being the best Dad and loving me unconditionally. I will miss you; I love you; I will never forget you. My heart is broken.
Love, Nene
